Position Overview

The Family Literacy Initiative at Metropolitan State College of Denver is seeking a committed part-time bilingual (Spanish/English) program coordinator for adults aiming to achieve a High School Equivalency diploma. This position involves delivering semester-based educational instruction and planning sessions.

As a prominent Hispanic Serving Institution, MSU Denver is dedicated to fostering diversity and inclusion. In this role, you will significantly contribute to the educational success of students from diverse backgrounds.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct instructional support in math/science or language arts/social studies using an approved High School Equivalency curriculum and student-focused teaching strategies.
  • Encourage a nurturing educational atmosphere by addressing student needs and integrating pathways to career advancement and higher education.
  • Collaborate with fellow educators on curriculum development, assessments, and lesson planning.
  • Design personalized educational plans tailored to student aspirations.
  • Monitor student progress and modify instruction as necessary.
  • Engage in professional development and training opportunities.
  • Perform additional assigned responsibilities.
Essential Qualifications
  • Proficient in delivering instruction both online and in-person.
  • Experience in teaching adult learners and familiarity with High School Equivalency/GED assessments.
  • Strong digital literacy and capability to utilize various educational technologies.
  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of two years of formal teaching experience in adult education.
  • Understanding of adult education principles and assessment methodologies.
  • Fluency in Spanish.
  • Able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in adult education or a related field.
  • Knowledge of College and Career Readiness Standards.
  • Experience with student-centered teaching and diverse learning populations.
  • Familiarity with state-approved High School Equivalency assessments.
Employment Terms

Affiliate faculty members are part-time employees compensated per credit hour for specific courses. Teaching assignments are subject to budgetary considerations and enrollment levels.

Compensation

The hourly wage for this position ranges from $25 to $30.
