Welcome to the Family Literacy Initiative at Metropolitan State College of Denver

Position Overview: The Family Literacy Initiative is in search of a dedicated part-time bilingual (Spanish/English) lead educator to assist adults in achieving their High School Equivalency diploma. Join us for a semester filled with meaningful classroom engagement and preparation time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide dynamic classroom instruction to adult learners utilizing the approved High School Equivalency curriculum
  • Develop personalized educational strategies tailored to student aspirations
  • Employ industry-standard software to monitor student advancement
  • Collaborate with fellow educators on curriculum development and lesson planning
  • Engage in professional development opportunities with staff
  • Perform additional tasks as required

Essential Qualifications:

  • Capability to instruct both online and in-person, during daytime or evening hours
  • Experience in teaching adults in Spanish and preparing for High School Equivalency/GED assessments
  • Proficiency in educational technology
  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related discipline
  • Minimum of two years of formal teaching experience in adult education
  • Ability to successfully complete a background check
  • Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish
  • Physical ability to lift/carry up to 20 lbs

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in adult education or a related field
  • Familiarity with College and Career Readiness Standards
  • Experience working with diverse urban populations

Employment Terms: Join as a part-time affiliate faculty member, instructing classes on a per credit basis. Teach at various locations within the metropolitan area.

Compensation: Competitive hourly wage ranging from $25 to $30.
