We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Bilingual Legal Services Aide to join our team at Lutheran Family Services Rocky Mountains. As a key member of our Immigration Legal Services department, you will provide critical support to low-income immigrants and refugees in the Rocky Mountain region.
Key Responsibilities- Respond to inquiries about possible immigration legal services offered by our program and schedule appointments accordingly.
- Conduct initial pre-screening interviews to collect necessary information and documentation for immigration forms.
- Compile and package documents for application submission, tracking progress and following up on requests for evidence or other actions.
- Assist the ILS team with tasks such as communication with clients, making appointments, maintaining files, and other assigned projects.
- Conduct digital fingerprints, enter sponsors' information into the fingerprint database, and submit completed information electronically.
- Counsel sponsors on completion of family reunification packets and other related forms.
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English, with the ability to read, write, and speak fluently in both languages.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to meet multiple deadlines.
- Cross-cultural sensitivity and knowledge, with a desire to work with people of diverse cultures.
- Broad knowledge of practices, principles, and methods employed in refugee resettlement.
- Possession of a valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and automobile liability insurance.
- Demonstrated commitment to the mission, values, and vision of Lutheran Family Services Rocky Mountains.
A high school diploma or equivalent, combined with two or more years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous immigration-related experience is preferred.
