The Underwriting Market Director is a critical role within Elevance Health, responsible for overseeing the underwriting function for the aligned business. This includes implementing and monitoring underwriting policies and guidelines, as well as managing exceptions to these policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor workflow to ensure adherence to underwriting policies and procedures.
  • Monitor business results to ensure policies, procedures, and guidelines are producing targeted and desired business outcomes.
  • Collaborate with underwriting leadership to determine pricing strategy, department work processes, and team/individual case assignments.
  • Develop training tools and facilitate training sessions for underwriters and sales/client management staff.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on various topics impacting underwriting processes.
  • Manage a limited block of complex clients.

Requirements

A Bachelor's degree in a related field and a minimum of 6 years of related health insurance experience, including an in-depth knowledge of underwriting policies and procedures, rating methodologies, and risk assessment.
