Position Overview

The Mortgage Loan Specialist is integral to our operations, engaging in various tasks that directly support the company's production objectives.

This role primarily involves, under moderate supervision, fostering quality relationships with clients by managing the origination process of loan applications, ensuring compliance with underwriting standards, and facilitating complete submissions for processing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accurately complete the 1003 application form.
  • Gather essential documentation from clients, including:
    • 30-day pay stubs
    • Two years of tax returns
    • Last two years of W-2 forms
    • Letters of Explanation for employment gaps
    • Two months of bank statements
  • Provide clients with a needs list and assist in completing the application during initial contact.
  • Ensure timely acquisition of executed disclosures in accordance with regulations.
  • Obtain precise Automated Underwriting System (AUS) findings.
  • Analyze credit reports and financial situations to determine suitable loan products.
  • Calculate and communicate loan pricing to the operations team.
  • Submit a comprehensive loan package for processing.
  • Lock in interest rates.
  • Review Closing Disclosures to verify consistency with customer commitments.
  • Address any discrepancies and collaborate with processing and management to resolve issues.
  • Provide administrative support in preparing and submitting loan applications.
  • Coordinate and manage marketing materials and client databases.
  • Respond to customer inquiries regarding rates, products, and loan application statuses to ensure high-quality service.
  • Perform additional duties as required by Guild Mortgage Company or the Managing Loan Officer.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in mortgage lending or a related field.
  • Active NMLS License is mandatory.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks with strong attention to detail and organization.
  • Exhibit a sense of urgency and responsiveness in all tasks.
  • Passionate about delivering outstanding customer service.
  • Demonstrated professionalism and patience in interactions with clients and colleagues.
  • Proficient in data entry, PDF software, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Supervision

This position requires intermittent to low supervision, depending on experience, with an emphasis on sound judgment in executing core responsibilities.

Work Environment

The role is primarily sedentary, with mobility within an office setting. Frequent use of a computer keyboard and mouse is necessary. The ability to accurately interpret sounds and visual information is essential.
