Job Summary
The Senior Outpatient Administrative Specialist is a critical role at Upstate University Hospital, requiring exceptional leadership skills and expertise in patient financial services.
About the Role:
This position serves as a role model, mentor, and preceptor for new and existing staff members. The successful candidate will work closely with the management team to drive daily operations related to staffing, workload, and resource management.
Responsibilities:
- Perform OAS duties based on departmental operational needs.
- Serve as a mentor and preceptor for new and existing staff members.
- Assist and support the management team with daily operations.
- Model effective communication and promote cooperative behaviors.
- Drive customer service and patient experience initiatives.
Requirements:
- Associate degree and three years of relevant experience in patient financial services or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology, medical billing/insurance requirements, familiarity with medical coding, and excellent written/oral communication skills.
- Computer skills and keyboarding are necessary.
- Ability to maintain good public relations with patients, visitors, co-workers, and other individuals.
Preferred Qualifications:
- One year of experience in an Ambulatory healthcare setting.
Work Environment:
M-F days
Salary Range: $65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience.
