Position Overview:

The Principal Project Manager (PPM) will oversee the financial, administrative, and compliance dimensions of projects characterized by substantial cost and/or technical intricacies. The PPM is expected to possess specialized expertise, skills, and experience to make informed decisions and operate autonomously. This role reports directly to the Director of Operations and includes the supervision of Project Managers. Preference will be given to candidates based in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee contractual and financial elements of large-scale international projects.
  • Support planning and budgeting processes.
  • Establish procedures, policies, recordkeeping, and administrative tasks for projects, including procurement activities.
  • Engage with various stakeholders on project tasks and initiatives.
  • Contribute to the recruitment and development of staff and consultants.
  • Develop and communicate project timelines and progress updates.
  • Assist in defining project milestones and critical path strategies.
  • Assess project task progress and manage subcontractor operations.
  • Compile reports on project-related activities.
  • Lead the project management team and guide start-up teams as necessary.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in international development or a related discipline is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of seven years of experience in international development with project management responsibilities.
  • Familiarity with USAID contracts and regulations is essential.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in cost estimation, tracking, and scheduling.
  • Experience working in a developing country within the MENA region is advantageous.
  • Understanding of project management methodologies and personnel oversight.
  • Knowledge of relevant business practices and regulations.
  • Willingness to travel internationally.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in Arabic is a plus.

Compensation Transparency:

Our compensation process is thorough and equitable, analyzing salaries holistically based on qualifications, business needs, internal data, and market surveys. Anticipated salary range: $85,000 to $108,000 USD.
