Job Summary

Aptyx is seeking a highly skilled Technical Support Supervisor to oversee the technical operations of injection molding processes and coordinate resources to execute production schedules to meet customer demands.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Supervision
    • Resource Scheduling and Coordination
      • Develop, manage, and coordinate resource schedules to maximize machine/press utilization.
    • Process Setup and Optimization
      • Oversee the setup of injection molding machines, ensuring all parameters are set correctly for each job.
      • Continuously monitor and direct technicians to adjust processes to optimize cycle times, reduce scrap, and improve part quality.
    • Troubleshooting
      • Direct support team to diagnose and resolve technical issues related to molding machines, tooling, and materials.
      • Collaborate with maintenance teams to address machine breakdowns and ensure minimal downtime.
    • Quality Control
      • Ensure that all products meet quality standards and specifications (process adherence).
      • Implement and monitor quality control procedures and make necessary adjustments to processes.
    • Tooling Management
      • Supervise the maintenance and storage of molds, ensuring they are in good working condition and available when needed.
      • Coordinate with the tool room for mold repairs and preventive maintenance.
    Scheduling
    • Production Planning/Scheduling Support (Back-up)
      • Ability to develop and manage production schedules based on customer orders, inventory levels, and machine capacity.
      • Coordinate with the sales and procurement teams to ensure material availability and delivery timelines.
    • Machine Utilization
      • Maximize machine uptime by efficiently scheduling jobs and minimizing changeover times.
      • Plan for preventive maintenance and manage machine downtime to avoid production delays.
    • Shift Management
      • Schedule and manage shifts for the Technical Support Team (set-up technicians, material handlers, mold maintenance/mold cleaning, kitter, etc.) ensuring adequate coverage for all production hours.
      • Coordinate overtime and shift rotations as needed to meet production goals.
    • Documentation and Reporting
      • Maintain accurate records of training, production schedules, machine utilization, set-up times, process adjustments, ISO docs, etc.
      • Prepare regular reports on production efficiency, quality issues, and scheduling challenges for management review.
    Qualifications
    • Education
      • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, or a related field preferred.
      • Technical certifications in injection molding or related disciplines are a plus.
    • Experience
      • 5+ years of experience in injection molding, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or scheduling role.
      • Strong technical knowledge of injection molding machines, tooling, and materials.
    • Skills
      • Proficient in reading and interpreting control plans, process documentation, and technical specifications.
      • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues quickly.
      • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail for effective planning, scheduling, and coordinating of resources.
      • Ability to lead and motivate a team, ensuring high productivity and morale.
      • Proficiency in production scheduling software and ERP systems (IQMS a plus).
      • Good communication skills for coordinating with cross-functional teams and reporting to management.

      • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including standing for extended periods and lifting heavy objects as needed.
