The Manufacturing Engineer works in close collaboration with diverse teams to resolve challenges, enhance process efficiencies, and promote ongoing improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in injection molding, process engineering, and a commitment to improving manufacturing effectiveness and product excellence.

Core Responsibilities:

  1. Optimization of Injection Molding Processes:
  • Design and refine injection molding processes to meet production targets, focusing on cycle time reduction, scrap minimization, and enhancement of part quality.
  • Execute process validation tasks, including Installation Qualification, Operational Qualification, and Performance Qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ) along with capability assessments.
  • Adopt scientific molding techniques to boost process consistency and repeatability.
  1. Tooling and Equipment Development:
  • Work alongside tooling engineers and external partners to create and develop injection molds and tooling solutions.
  • Assess tooling designs for manufacturability, dependability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Oversee tooling projects from initial design through to fabrication and validation stages.
  1. New Product Development Support:
  • Assist in the New Product Introduction (NPI) process by contributing insights on design for manufacturability and engaging in design review sessions.
  • Document and develop manufacturing processes, work instructions, and standard operating procedures for new products.
  • Coordinate prototype production and pilot runs to validate manufacturing processes.
  1. Continuous Improvement and Lean Practices:
  • Lead and engage in continuous improvement projects aimed at optimizing injection molding processes and minimizing waste.
  • Implement lean manufacturing strategies, including 5S, Kaizen, and value stream mapping, to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Utilize data analysis and statistical methodologies to pinpoint opportunities for process enhancement and cost savings.
  1. Quality Assurance and Control:
  • Collaborate with quality assurance teams to set and uphold quality standards and specifications for injection molded products.
  • Conduct root cause analyses and execute corrective measures for quality-related process issues.
  • Support quality audits and inspections to ensure adherence to regulatory standards and customer requirements.
  1. Training and Documentation:
  • Deliver training and technical assistance to production staff regarding injection molding processes, equipment usage, and safety protocols.
  • Maintain precise documentation, including process flow diagrams, equipment manuals, and validation reports.
  • Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures and safety regulations across all manufacturing activities.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline. A Master's degree is advantageous.
  • Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years in injection molding manufacturing, process engineering, or a comparable role.
  • Skills:
    • In-depth technical knowledge of injection molding processes, materials, and tooling.
    • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software and injection molding simulation tools.
    • Experience with scientific molding methodologies.
    • Familiarity with quality systems and manufacturing standards.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team setting.
