Job Summary

The Patient Access Representative plays a vital role in ensuring the efficient and orderly registration of all patients at Phoenix Children's. As the primary liaison for patients receiving professional and clinical services, this individual is responsible for preparing admission forms, obtaining necessary documentation and signatures, and confirming demographic information when the patient and/or guarantor present for services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately document all information in the appropriate fields and/or account notes, maintaining accuracy when entering demographic and insurance information in the system.
  • Arrive patients who present for professional and hospital services that have been pre-registered and collect co-pay and deductible amounts, obtaining all necessary signatures from the Guarantor at the time of registration or arrival.
  • Courteously answer the telephone and respond to inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Identify and refer uninsured and underinsured patients to the Financial Counselor or similar representative as necessary.
  • Inquire patient account systems to identify any previous unpaid liability in AMPFM/Misys or similar database.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with patients/guarantors, insurance companies, government entities, clinical personnel, co-workers, and management to promote teamwork, cooperation, and a positive public image for Phoenix Children's.
  • Organize, prioritize, and monitor daily work activity to ensure complete, accurate, and compliant registration has been performed in a timely manner.
  • Participate in various unit and hospital educational programs to maintain current skill and competency levels.
  • Perform registration in the appropriate HIS system, verify insurance coverage, obtain authorization for patients who present for professional and hospital services and have not been pre-registered.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as requested.
