Job Title: Publications Coordinator

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Publications Coordinator to join our team at the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. This is a unique opportunity to work on two bi-monthly publications, the Daughters newsletter and the award-winning American Spirit Magazine, with a circulation of 50,000.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and review editorial content, including articles, features, and advertisements, to ensure accuracy and quality.
  • Work closely with leadership to develop and finalize annual editorial schedules and deadlines for timely content.
  • Manage relationships with members, staff, and vendors to ensure smooth production and distribution of publications.
  • Review, proofread, and edit text and articles for clarity, style, grammar, and readability.
  • Evaluate advertisements for consistency, clarity, and adherence to formatting standards.
  • Assess layouts of publications and artwork throughout multiple production stages.
  • Coordinate with staff and leadership on final layouts and incorporate any changes.
  • Process and reconcile advertising payments and maintain accurate records.
  • Manage social media postings to correspond with specific magazine editions.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in print and/or digital publishing, with a focus on writing, proofreading, and editing.
  • Advanced proficiency in publishing software, Microsoft Office Suite, InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Proven command of editorial, grammatical, and writing skills.
  • Experience working with publishing vendors and knowledge of standard print publishing concepts, best practices, and procedures.
  • Strong project management skills, including accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with members, leadership, and the public.
