Job Summary

The Pastry Cook 3 position at Plant Riverside District is a key role in our culinary team, responsible for preparing and baking high-quality desserts, breads, and pastries. As a Pastry Cook 3, you will be expected to provide exceptional service, meet food handling and quality assurance standards, and maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Food Preparation: Follow recipes to prepare and present desserts, breads, and pastries, including accommodating special requests.
  • Inventory Management: Check restaurant par lists to ensure adequate prep for shifts and communicate needs for goods to kitchen leadership.
  • Culinary Skills: Measure and mix ingredients, prepare and cook ingredients for pie fillings, puddings, custards, and other desserts, and adjust oven temperatures as needed.
  • Decorating and Presentation: Mix ingredients to make icings and decorate cakes and pastries to meet high standards of presentation.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Complete equipment checklists and notify leadership of any issues with equipment.
  • Food Safety and Sanitation: Maintain internal cleanliness of food prep areas, rotate food in coolers and freezers to minimize waste and spoilage, and adhere to sanitation standards according to state law and health codes.
  • Teamwork and Communication: Greet and interact with internal and external guests in a genuine, warm, and friendly manner, using professional and company-standard nomenclature.
Requirements
  • Culinary Experience: 1 year of relevant work experience in a similar scope and title, preferably in a luxury brand or market.
  • Culinary Education: Culinary or pastry arts degree or related training equivalent in the hospitality or restaurant industry, preferred.
  • Food Safety Certification: Food Safety certification preferred or attained within 30 days.
Work Environment

The Pastry Cook 3 will work in a fast-paced kitchen environment with high temperatures and humidity. The incumbent must be comfortable working in a shared space, with constant noise, and without the use of a private office. Schedules may vary from week to week based on business demands, exceeding 40 hours with or without notice.

Physical Demands
  • The incumbent will regularly be required to push, pull, and lift up to 40lbs on a daily basis.
  • The incumbent will regularly be required to travel by foot, car, bus, airplane, or other means of transportation, which require sitting, waiting, and standing for long and short periods of time.
