About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Ambulatory Care Administrative Coordinator 2 to join our team at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). This is a temporary employment opportunity that will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to gain valuable experience in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the daily operational management of the Cochlear Implant program, including patient liaison, data analysis, and marketing work.
  • Ensure compliance and quality assurance, financial management of cash flow into the clinic, patient satisfaction, analysis of operational trends, deficiencies, and opportunities for the creation of plans for implementation.
  • Utilize knowledge of scheduling and revenue cycle processes, including registration, scheduling, referral coordination, insurance authorizations, check-out, pricing, and billing of services.
  • Own and manage the Cochlear Implant patient database, utilizing it to analyze referral sources and abstract information from healthcare plans and medical records.
  • Collaborate with internal and external providers to update the database and prepare necessary documents for weekly team meetings.
  • Resolve billing problems, work assigned reports to resolve issues, and ensure payment on accounts.
  • Independently trouble-shoot daily issues, including patient, staff, and provider concerns, and escalate them to management as appropriate.
Requirements
  • Acquire knowledge of Patient Rights & Responsibilities, Joint Commission standards, and Centers for Medicare/Medicaid regulations.
  • Develop strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to quickly analyze problems, determine appropriate levels of intervention, and develop effective solutions.
  • Utilize strong interpersonal skills for effective collaborations with all levels of management and staff, consultants, and outside agencies.
  • Comprehend and assess patient grievances to quickly locate appropriate resources for assistance.
  • Display solid interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to remain calm under pressure and apply sound judgment.
  • Work independently in a fast-paced, demanding environment with minimal supervision.
  • Manage and oversee multiple tasks simultaneously, including high daily call volume.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Proficiency with Windows-based software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Data analysis, research, and reporting skills.
  • 1-2 years of administrative healthcare experience in a clinical environment, preferably in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience with EPIC strongly preferred.
