Job Summary

This role oversees the efficient operation of clinical and business processes of the Keck Medicine of USC Ambulatory Services, ensuring optimal patient care and organizational performance. The Associate Administrator is responsible for coordinating patient care services, managing financial and resource allocation, and implementing healthcare policies to enhance both patient outcomes and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement clinical integration strategies across the ambulatory enterprise, including the on-boarding of new practices/providers into the medical group and Keck Medicine of USC.
  • Provide leadership to the medical group's clinical support operations across all its locations, ensuring the development and implementation of patient care standards, professional practice standards, and the continuous delivery of efficient and cost-effective patient care services in the outpatient clinical care areas.
  • Ensure twenty-four-hour accountability for the delivery of quality services and operational management of assigned area(s), coordinating oversight with the Chief Nursing Officer and other key stakeholders at USC CARE and Keck Medicine.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Compliance, and Executive Management to ensure that policies, programs, and processes are developed, implemented, communicated, and consistently administered in compliance with organizational objectives and laws and regulations.
  • Work closely with Nursing Leadership to assure clinical services are appropriate, staff are competent to provide services, and practice has been reviewed by appropriate internal and external regulatory groups.
  • Responsible for managing and collaborating in the business development activities in the Ambulatory Clinic Services, including hospital collaborations, physician outreach, continuing medical education programs, and community outreach.
  • Support and facilitate Value-Based Care and population Health Care Programs, promoting and participating in the integration of Value-Based Service Organization with USC CARE & Ambulatory Services.
  • Collaborate with all areas that interface with the ambulatory clinics, Information Systems, HR, and other operating teams to ensure optimum workflow standardization and cohesiveness in all processes.
  • Responsible for identifying and implementing cross-training ideas and changes in staff design and task distribution, which promotes a more effective method of service delivery, ensuring that the care is safe, legal, and customer service-oriented.
  • Provide leadership and oversight to clinical integration team members for ambulatory care practices, including new build, merger, acquisition, and renovation.
  • Develop and maintain a Nursing Professional Governance structure inclusive of all ambulatory care areas.
  • Set the direction for the service line with defined measurements and provide frameworks for staff to meet goals.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external partners to assure the engagement of key services/initiatives into the ambulatory clinic service programs and to ensure outstanding patient care and service.
  • Facilitate the training of staff or students as necessary in coordination with the Education personnel.
  • Promote effective communication and working relationships within the clinical areas, and between clinical staff, physicians, and other departments, serving as a coach and mentor.
  • Ensure that all operations within the scope of the position are carried out in an ethical, responsible manner.
  • Participate in establishing systems within the departments that support and practice shared governance management philosophy, contributing to the development of customer service standards and expectations.
  • Work with Human Resources to ensure that a workable manpower plan is in place for areas reporting to this position, so that the areas remain able to deliver good care.
  • Responsible for selecting and retaining qualified nursing staff to carry out the unit's care system in accordance with medical group philosophy and the organizational objectives.
  • Contribute to developing and monitoring the operational budget each year, continually analyzing both positive and negative variances, and using the budget as a tool to find more effective methods of care delivery.
  • Participate in planning and goal setting for the nursing department and for own unit of responsibility.
  • Coordinate and integrate department services on intradepartmental, interdepartmental, and medical group-wide levels.
  • Plan for the provision of services through the provision of appropriate levels of qualified, competent staff, with policies and procedures in place to support the scope of service.
  • Monitor space/resource requirements and utilization of outside resources.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
