The Team:


The Corporate Treasury team at Upstart plays a crucial role in managing corporate cash, liquidity, debt, and risk management strategies while overseeing the fund flow between borrowers, financial institutions, and institutional investors.


Treasury Structure:
The team is divided into Capital Markets, Investor Services, and Treasury.

Upstart's growth is attributed to our analytical approach to operations. The ideal candidate will excel in organizing ideas and people while demonstrating strong problem-solving skills.

You will be action-oriented and possess the ability to deconstruct complex issues by defining requirements and eliminating obstacles.

Upstart is in search of a highly driven and results-oriented Treasury Lead.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Treasury, the Treasury Lead will be instrumental in balance sheet forecasting and management, optimizing capital structure, risk management, and long-term financial and liquidity planning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage corporate cash and liquidity, including cash forecasting and planning to support both short-term and long-term corporate goals.
  • Collaborate closely with FP&A to maintain comprehensive financial models for forecasting and scenario analysis.
  • Manage cash management processes, including daily cash reconciliation and month-end/quarter-end reporting in conjunction with the Accounting team.
  • Administer financial arrangements such as letters of credit issuance, credit facilities, covenants, and compliance certificates.
  • Formulate and execute capital market strategies to enhance shareholder value and achieve strategic Treasury objectives.
  • Analyze, structure, and implement financing initiatives to optimize capital structure and funding costs.
  • Generate monthly and quarterly reports to meet internal and external audit requirements, and maintain treasury presentation materials for senior management.
  • Work closely with finance leadership to manage investment portfolio risk and cash funding requirements, identifying opportunities for additional yield.
  • Ensure governance and controls are in place for effective execution of financial reporting and transactions, including compliance with regulatory requirements.
Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in banking, finance, accounting, or corporate finance, with a focus on cash management and financial modeling.
  • Strong financial modeling skills with a quantitative background to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the financial industry, capital markets, and regulatory environment.
  • Bachelor's or Master's/MBA degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field; CFA is a plus.
