Position Summary
We are looking for an Assistant Nurse Manager for a 29-bed Emergency Department. This unit is dedicated to maintaining a safe and efficient nurse staffing model, serving as a critical component of the hospital's operations. The newly renovated department features 10 expedited care spaces and 3 safe spaces.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of nursing staff across one or more patient care units, ensuring that patient needs are met and evaluating nursing care and performance.
- Participate in the planning of unit operations and collaborate with other patient care units and departments.
- Organize training programs for unit staff and engage in educational initiatives.
- Participate in the recruitment process and oversee the development, evaluation, and management of direct reports.
- Provide professional nursing care in accordance with organizational guidelines and protocols during bedside assignments.
- Foster an environment of trust, fairness, consistency, and confidentiality among team members and with patients and families.
- Ensure the consistent practice of bedside reporting and conduct monthly audits.
- Share knowledge and facilitate staff development within the department.
- Respond promptly to concerns from patients, families, and staff, working towards resolution.
- Demonstrate clinical expertise to mentor staff in daily operations.
- Engage with the healthcare team and ancillary departments to monitor and achieve quality patient outcomes.
- Collaborate on bed management to ensure appropriate patient placement based on clinical needs.
- Manage improvement initiatives in collaboration with unit leadership.
- Support the development of evidence-based protocols and monitor staff compliance.
- Participate in departmental committees to address issues and implement service, quality, and productivity enhancements.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing required; Master of Science in Nursing preferred.
- A minimum of five years of nursing experience.
- Current RN license or temporary permit approved by the relevant licensing board required.
- BLS certification required; ACLS may be necessary in certain areas.
