Aquatic Safety Specialist

The YMCA of Greenville is a dynamic and rapidly growing association that seeks to strengthen the community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. As an Aquatic Safety Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety of all members, guests, and program participants in our pools and aquatics areas. Your responsibilities will include enforcing rules and guidelines, responding to emergencies, and providing exceptional customer service. In addition to your lifeguarding certification, you will be required to complete Blood Bourne Pathogen and Child Abuse Prevention training within your first 30 days of employment. Responsibilities:
Communicate and enforce aquatics rules and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
Properly open, perform daily tasks, and close aquatics area each day according to Standard Operating Procedures.
Provide excellent service to members, guests, and program participants.
Maintain a clean, safe, fully stocked, and well-organized work area.
Handle and resolve aquatics concerns and inform supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.
Provide accurate, appropriate, and immediate responses to all requests by members/guests.
Work without constant direct supervision and remain at assigned post for extended periods of time.
Maintain a positive attitude and contribute toward a quality work environment.
Maintain positive relations at all times with members, participants, and co-workers.
Adhere to policies related to boundaries with consumers.
Attend/complete required abuse risk management training.
Adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising consumers.
Follow mandated reporting requirements.
Adhere to job-specific abuse risk management responsibilities.

Qualifications:
Must be at least 15 years old.
Current lifeguard, CPR, First Aid, & AED Certification (American Red Cross or YMCA).
Able to communicate and enforce policies and procedures to members, program participants, and guests.
Able to react quickly and properly in emergency situations.
Must have enthusiasm and possess excellent customer service skills.
Excellent communication skills.
Complete Blood Bourne Pathogen and Child Abuse Prevention training within first 30 days of employment.
