Position Overview:

The Aquatic Safety Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the safety of all individuals in YMCA aquatic facilities, including members, guests, and program participants. This role involves enforcing safety regulations in line with YMCA standards, addressing the needs of members and guests, delivering exceptional customer service, and maintaining a secure aquatic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Communicate and enforce aquatic safety rules to maintain a secure environment.
  • Perform daily operational tasks in accordance with established procedures.
  • Deliver excellent service to all members, guests, and program participants.
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and well-organized work area.
  • Address and resolve aquatic-related concerns, reporting any unusual situations to supervisors.
  • Provide prompt and accurate responses to all inquiries from members and guests.
  • Work independently and remain at assigned posts for extended periods.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and contribute to a supportive work atmosphere.
  • Foster positive relationships with members, participants, and colleagues.
  • Adhere to policies regarding boundaries with consumers.
  • Complete required training on abuse risk management.
  • Follow procedures for managing high-risk activities and supervising participants.
  • Comply with mandated reporting requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 15 years of age.
  • Current certifications in lifeguarding, CPR, First Aid, and AED (American Red Cross or YMCA).
  • Able to effectively communicate and enforce policies to members and guests.
  • Capable of responding swiftly and appropriately in emergency situations.
  • Possess enthusiasm and strong customer service skills.
  • Excellent communication abilities.
  • Complete Bloodborne Pathogen and Child Abuse Prevention training within the first month of employment.

Note: Lifeguard certification is required prior to employment. The YMCA of Greenville offers lifeguard certification classes for those who need to obtain their certification.
