Aquatic Safety Specialist

The YMCA of Greenville is a dynamic and rapidly growing association that strives to strengthen the community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

The Aquatic Safety Specialist ensures a safe environment in YMCA pools and aquatics areas for all members, guests, and program participants. This role enforces rules and guidelines in accordance with YMCA policies, responds to member and guest needs, provides exceptional customer service, and maintains a safe aquatics environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Communicates and enforces aquatics rules and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Properly opens, performs daily tasks, and closes aquatics area each day according to Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Provides excellent service to members, guests, and program participants.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, fully stocked, and well-organized work area.
  • Handles and resolves aquatics concerns and informs supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.
  • Provides accurate, appropriate, and immediate responses to all requests by members/guests.
  • Works without constant direct supervision and remains at assigned post for extended periods of time.
  • Maintains a positive attitude and contributes toward a quality work environment.
  • Maintains positive relations at all times with members, participants, and co-workers.
  • Adhere to policies related to boundaries with consumers.
  • Attend/complete required abuse risk management training.
  • Adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising consumers.
  • Follow mandated reporting requirements.
  • Adhere to job-specific abuse risk management responsibilities.
Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 15 years old.
  • Current lifeguard, CPR, First Aid, & AED Certification (American Red Cross or YMCA).
  • Able to communicate and enforce policies and procedures to members, program participants, and guests.
  • Able to react quickly and properly in emergency situations.
  • Must have enthusiasm and possess excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Complete Blood Bourne Pathogen and Child Abuse Prevention training within first 30-days of employment.
