Position Overview:
The Registered Nurse (RN) delivers expert nursing care aimed at ensuring the comfort and health of patients. The RN prepares medical equipment and supports physicians during examinations and treatments. Responsibilities include administering prescribed medications, changing dressings, cleaning wounds, and monitoring vital signs. The RN is responsible for observing and documenting patient care, conditions, reactions, and progress.


As a key member of the healthcare team, the Registered Nurse (RN) plays a vital role in planning and executing patient care.

The RN ensures the application of safe aseptic techniques and procedures, while also providing leadership and guidance to support staff within the department.

The medical-surgical unit specializes in gastrointestinal care.

Our patients often present with conditions such as non-surgical abdominal pain, cirrhosis, hepatitis, non-surgical bowel obstructions, severe nausea and vomiting, cholelithiasis, acute pancreatitis, diarrhea, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, diverticulitis, and upper and lower GI bleeds.

Additionally, we accommodate patients recovering from less complex surgical procedures and manage medical-surgical overflow. This is a dynamic unit that prioritizes teamwork and collaboration.

Qualifications:
Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program. Capable of assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care.
Preferred one year of nursing experience.
Must hold a current Texas State RN License.
CPR certification (American Heart Association) required.
