The RN plays a vital role as a primary nurse, associate nurse, team member, or team leader in the planning and execution of patient care strategies. The RN directs and aids in the implementation of safe aseptic techniques and procedures. Furthermore, the RN provides leadership and guidance to all support staff within the department.
CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi-Shoreline is a leading acute care medical facility in the region, offering a wide array of diagnostic and surgical specialty services, particularly in cardiac, cancer, and stroke care. It stands as the premier emergency facility in the area and is recognized as the only Level II Trauma Center in the Coastal Bend, staffed with healthcare professionals trained in emergency services.
- The Pavilion and the Critical Care Center feature a state-of-the-art Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, Cardiac Catheterization Lab, and surgical suites.
- It serves as a teaching facility in collaboration with the Texas A&M University System Health Science Center College of Medicine.
- Accredited as a Chest Pain Center.
- Accredited Joint Commission Stroke Team.
The Shoreline campus is a distinguished facility housing many of the region's essential and acclaimed programs, including a Primary Stroke Center, a nationally accredited Cancer Center, and a nationally recognized Chest Pain Center. The Pavilion at CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi-Shoreline encompasses the CHRISTUS Spohn Heart Network, recently acknowledged as one of the top 100 cardiovascular hospitals in the United States. The Heart Institute provides advanced diagnostic, surgical, and rehabilitative cardiac services in one convenient location.
Qualifications:
A. Education/Skills
- Associate's Degree in Nursing.
B. Experience
- Preferred one year of nursing experience. New graduates are welcome to apply.
C. Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications
- Current Texas State RN License or Compact RN License.
- BLS certification (American Heart Association).
- ACLS certification required at the time of hire for experienced RNs. New graduate nurses must obtain ACLS by the end of the clinical orientation period.
- NIHSS certification required within 90 days of hire/transfer date.
- De-escalation training required within 90 days of hire/transfer date.
- TNCC certification required within 6 weeks of hire for experienced RNs. New graduate nurses must obtain TNCC within 18 months of hire/transfer date.
- PALS certification required at the time of hire for experienced RNs. New graduate nurses must obtain PALS by the end of the clinical orientation period.
