Position Overview:

The Assistant Manager of Operations plays a crucial role in managing the overall functioning of designated Pump & Pantry locations during the absence of the Manager. This position entails a variety of responsibilities that ensure smooth daily operations, either directly or through the supervision of subordinate staff.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the recruitment, discipline, and termination processes in collaboration with the Manager and Corporate Human Resources.
  • Ensure all operational paperwork is completed accurately and submitted punctually.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in opening and closing shifts, including necessary documentation.
  • Address customer needs effectively while adhering to company policies regarding customer service.
  • Oversee cash management and bank deposits.
  • Ensure compliance with food handling guidelines and state/federal regulations.
  • Maintain a positive workplace atmosphere.
  • Resolve issues related to customers, staff, or equipment.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of the assigned locations.
  • Manage inventory levels and ensure proper pricing of products.
  • Support the implementation of company training protocols.
  • Assist in the training of staff in food handling and operational procedures.
  • Ensure proper storage and temperature control of food products.
  • Help maintain adequate staffing for all shifts.
  • Uphold uniform standards for all personnel.
  • Enforce company policies and procedures consistently.
  • Report maintenance and personnel issues to upper management.
  • Maintain accurate records related to merchandise, personnel, and fuel.
  • Promote a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Participate in management and training meetings as required.
  • Deliver friendly and efficient customer service.
  • Exhibit punctuality and consistent attendance.

Additional Duties:
Perform other related tasks as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directly oversee a team of 4 to 16 employees at each assigned Pump & Pantry location.

Qualifications:
  • Education and Experience: A minimum of one to three years in a similar role is preferred, with at least six months of experience as a sales associate required. An Associate's Degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • Certifications: Must possess a Food Handler's permit or Serve Safe Certification as required by law or company policy.
  • Operational Knowledge: Familiarity with the operations and maintenance of equipment in assigned locations is essential.
  • Availability: Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays, with a minimum of three 2nd shifts per week to ensure managerial coverage during key operating hours.
  • Communication: Proficiency in English is required.
  • Customer Service: Must be able to provide friendly and prompt service.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work cooperatively with team members.

Physical Requirements:
The physical demands of this role include:
  • Occasional lifting and moving of up to 50 lbs.
  • Standing for extended periods.
  • Frequent walking and use of hands and fingers.
  • Occasional sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
