ROLE DESCRIPTION

The Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services (RAICES) is seeking a Training Specialist for the Refugee Integration Program. Reporting to the Resettlement Program Manager, the Training Specialist will conduct group learning sessions for eligible clients, ensuring adherence to federal guidelines and standards. This role is pivotal in enhancing clients' community integration and self-sufficiency. Our mission is to eliminate obstacles with empathy, compassion, and empowerment, while honoring human dignity and respect. This position is eligible for union membership and is funded through grants, which may affect job security based on funding availability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate group sessions, information workshops, and training for diverse populations in a culturally sensitive manner.
  • Collaborate with Refugee Resettlement team to ensure adherence to federal and donor regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports regarding participant attendance, progress, and services provided in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the preparation and management of training venues, tools, and materials.
  • Develop, design, and regularly update training materials and curricula based on participant interests.
  • Establish and oversee training plans and the overall group training schedule.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness through pre- and post-assessments to measure knowledge acquisition.
  • Ensure all training materials, agendas, schedules, and facilitator assignments are documented and organized.
  • Collaborate with the Outreach Coordinator, volunteers, and community partners to identify and schedule group facilitators.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in education, training, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • 1-2 years of experience in developing training programs and delivering training to a diverse audience.
  • 1-2 years of experience working with refugee communities and/or in community service roles.
  • Proficient in professional English communication, both written and verbal.
  • Physical requirements may include lifting up to 25 lbs, loading and unloading materials, and standing for extended periods.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and insurance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in social services or non-profit sectors, particularly in education or training.
  • 2+ years of experience in curriculum development and training delivery to diverse audiences.
  • 2+ years of experience in facilitation, presentation, and classroom management.
  • Fluency in one of the languages spoken by clients, preferably Spanish, Dari, Swahili, Pashto, or Arabic.
  • Experience working with interpreters/translators.
  • Basic knowledge of G-Suite and/or Microsoft Office, with the ability to learn internal case management systems.

Hybrid Work Structure

NOTE: Employees are expected to reside within the designated geographic area to commute to and from the office or assigned locations as required by business or client needs.
