Position Overview

The Onshore Well Work & Intervention Technician plays a pivotal role in the preparation and execution of well operations. This position involves generating cost estimates, creating Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) documents, and scheduling well work efficiently. The technician will provide essential technical support to field operations while primarily working from the Houston Corporate office, with the possibility of remote work two days a week upon supervisor approval.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement efficient workover procedures.
  • Offer operational and technical assistance to onsite wellsite supervisors during completion and workover activities.
  • Prepare comprehensive cost estimates and formulate AFE justifications for workover projects.
  • Document and analyze operational lessons learned to enhance future performance.
  • Conduct operations with a strong commitment to Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) standards.
  • Assess the execution of well completion and workover programs, integrating lessons learned into best practices.
  • Manage well work rig schedules to optimize production while minimizing costs.
  • Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and identify opportunities for operational improvements.
  • Participate in quarterly well work and safety meetings, including travel for pump analysis as needed.
  • Support wellbore preparation, cleanout operations, and liner running for refrac wells.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team.
  • Review and ensure the accuracy of daily well reports, tubing tallies, and rod tallies.
  • Approve invoices and maintain the well work failure database.
  • Ensure compliance with Murphy Drilling and Wells Operating Policy (DWOP) Manual and Safety Manual during all activities.
  • Collaborate with the Well Work Coordinator to ensure operational support.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience with well work equipment and operations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, SAP, and Wellview software.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and demonstrate self-motivation.
  • Willingness to travel to field sites for ongoing operations.
  • Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience with well workover equipment and operations.
  • Familiarity with rod pump, gas lift, and plunger terminology.
  • Completion of Well Control School (to be obtained upon joining the team).
