Position Summary

The Onshore Operations Technician plays a crucial role in the development of cost assessments, AFE documentation, and the scheduling of operational activities related to well interventions. This position is primarily based in our corporate office in Houston, with the possibility of remote work two days a week, subject to supervisor approval.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop efficient procedures for workover operations.
  • Provide both operational and technical assistance to onsite supervisors overseeing completion and workover activities.
  • Prepare comprehensive cost assessments and generate AFE justifications for workover projects.
  • Document and analyze operational lessons learned.
  • Execute operations with a strong commitment to health, safety, security, and environmental standards.
  • Assess the implementation of well completion and workover programs, integrating lessons learned into improved practices.
  • Manage well work rig schedules to optimize production while minimizing costs.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and identify areas for enhancement, facilitating quarterly KPI reviews.
  • Participate in quarterly well work and safety meetings, and conduct day trips to pump shops for equipment analysis.
  • Assist in wellbore preparation, cleanout tasks, and liner installation for refracturing projects.
  • Maintain a mindset focused on continuous improvement.
  • Review and verify daily reports, tubing and rod tallies for accuracy and completeness.
  • Approve invoices and maintain a database of work-related failures.
  • Ensure all activities are executed safely and efficiently, adhering to the Murphy Drilling and Wells Operating Policy (DWOP) Manual and Safety Manual.
  • Collaborate with the Well Work Coordinator to ensure operational support.
Licenses/Certifications

A valid driver's license without restrictions that would hinder driving a company vehicle is required.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience with well work equipment and operations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, SAP, and Wellview.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and demonstrate self-motivation.
  • Willingness to travel to field sites for operational visits.
  • Capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
All candidates must adhere to applicable safety protocols. The work environment is primarily controlled and does not typically expose employees to hazardous conditions; however, some roles may require the movement of items weighing up to 25 lbs. The successful candidate must be able to fulfill all essential physical job requirements with or without reasonable accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience with well workover equipment and operations.
  • Familiarity with rod pump, gas lift, and plunger terminology.
  • Completion of Well Control School (must be obtained upon joining the team).
