This role involves negotiating settlements for claims of varying complexity and perils.

Training is essential for your success, and reliable attendance during training is mandatory.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough and fair investigations by gathering relevant facts to determine coverage, origin, and extent of loss. Analyze financial statements to adjust moderately sized business interruption losses.
  • Perform on-site appraisals or direct independent adjusters to ascertain facts regarding causation, damages, and exposure.
  • Engage and oversee consultants and independent adjusters as necessary, ensuring that costs are reasonable and necessary.
  • Establish and maintain accurate loss cost estimates and reserves for each claim for reporting and financial records.
  • Keep the Insured and other stakeholders informed about the claim's status through clear, timely, and accurate communications.
  • Determine coverage affirmations or denials based on facts and policy terms, and develop necessary information for advance, partial, and final payments when appropriate.
  • Adhere to policy time requirements and fair claims handling practices.
  • Negotiate settlements for claims of varying complexity and perils, achieving prompt and equitable resolutions where policy liability exists.
  • Maintain electronic claim files with accurate, clear, and timely documentation reflecting adjustment activities and substantiating payments made.
  • Participate in quality assurance file review sessions and serve as a technical resource for less experienced claims personnel.
  • Be available for catastrophe duty as required.
Qualifications
Knowledge of property insurance, commercial property claims, coverage evaluation, claims investigation, loss assessment, and reserves is essential. Skills in financial analysis, insurance regulations, negotiation, and settlement of moderately complex claims are required. Candidates should possess strong customer focus, decision-making abilities, results orientation, effective spoken communication, and adaptability. The ability to build relationships, mentor and train less experienced team members, listen actively, write business correspondence, produce accurate work, manage projects, and utilize core applications/spreadsheets is necessary. A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, successful completion of required internal training programs, and AIC (Associate in Claims) module 33, along with at least 18 months of progressively responsible experience, are also required.

Willingness to travel to catastrophe sites for assignments that may last several weeks is necessary.
