About the Role

HDI Global SE, a leading commercial property and casualty insurer, is seeking an experienced Commercial Claims Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our claims department, you will be responsible for handling complex and severe commercial casualty claims.

Key Responsibilities
  • Claims Investigation and Resolution: Investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and resolve complex commercial casualty claims, with the assistance of external service providers where necessary.
  • Representation and Litigation: Represent the company and clients effectively by participating in, or leading litigation teams where necessary.
  • Exposure Claim Management: Independently resolve significant exposure claims on favorable terms.
  • External Service Provider Management: Effectively control the use, costs, and work product of outside counsel and other external service providers.
  • Policy Coverage Analysis: Analyze policy coverages on standard and manuscript forms, independently identifying and evaluating coverage issues, and where necessary preparing coverage position letters.
  • Financial Management: Operate within designated monetary authority for reserves, case disposition, and payments.
  • Reporting and Communication: Prepare timely and accurate reports for management on large losses; keep management informed of issues, problems, and progress on severe claims.
  • Customer Service and Relationship Building: Provide outstanding service and availability to business partners, developing relationships with our customers, brokers, and HDI colleagues; domestically and abroad.
  • Subrogation Recovery: Identify and initiate subrogation recovery opportunities.
  • Travel and Representation: Occasional travel, for mediation, client/case meetings, court or arbitral appearances, whenever necessary.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree. Additional insurance education is preferred (CPCU, AIC, etc.).
  • Experience: 7+ years complex casualty claims experience, specific experience with Product and Excess Liability, Construction, preferred.
  • Licenses and Certifications: Obtain and maintain state insurance adjuster licenses as necessary.
  • Travel and Availability: The ability to travel as necessary, up to roughly 15%.
  • Skills and Abilities: Excellent verbal and written communication, customer service, and negotiation skills. Strong contract interpretation, organizational, and time management skills. Knowledge of direct and/or reinsurance business. Extensive experience working with computers and the Microsoft office suite.
