The Property Claims Specialist is responsible for managing commercial property and engineering/construction claims, while also providing assistance in other lines of business as needed. This role emphasizes the continuous technical enhancement of skills related to commercial property and engineering claims.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough investigations, evaluations, negotiations, and resolutions of commercial property and engineering claims, collaborating with independent adjusters and field experts.
- Independently resolve claims on fair terms and at appropriate values.
- Effectively manage the use, costs, and deliverables of independent adjusters and experts.
- Analyze policy coverages on both standard and manuscript forms, identifying and evaluating coverage issues independently.
- Recognize subrogation recovery opportunities.
- Prepare timely and precise reports for management regarding significant losses, keeping them informed of issues, challenges, and progress on severe claims.
- Deliver exceptional service and availability to business partners, fostering relationships with insureds, brokers, and HDI colleagues both domestically and internationally.
- Share insights and lessons learned from claims with other HDI departments, serving as a technical resource when necessary.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in direct handling of commercial property and/or engineering claims.
- Proficient in claims management, coverage analysis, correspondence, and negotiations.
- Preferred possession of appropriate state adjuster licenses, with a willingness to pursue additional licensing.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong customer service and negotiation abilities.
- Strong skills in contract interpretation.
- Exceptional organizational and time management capabilities.
- Knowledge of direct and/or reinsurance business.
- Extensive experience with computers and the Microsoft Office suite.
