Human Resources Generalist

Job Summary:
The Human Resources Generalist plays a vital role in the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources Office at the Diocese of Austin. This position provides recruiting and general support to both parishes and schools within the Diocese, reporting directly to the Director of Human Resources.
Key Responsibilities:
- Recruitment and Hiring: Assist in the sourcing and hiring process for schools and parishes, leveraging applicant tracking systems and job boards to attract qualified candidates.
- HR Support: Provide general support to schools and parishes, including training hiring managers and others in interviewing techniques and best practices.
- Communication and Relationships: Establish effective communication and relationships with school liaisons to guide and assist them in managing school-specific HR functions.
- Employee Relations: Serve as the first-level contact for school personnel issues, understanding escalation protocols to the Human Resources Director and Superintendent.
- Investigations and Recommendations: Assist in conducting preliminary investigations and delivering preliminary findings to gather multiple perspectives on issues and create recommendations.
- Training and Development: Plan and conduct yearly new employee orientation sessions, utilizing new technologies to ensure a well-streamlined and efficient process of adherence to State and Federal employment compliance.
- Background Checks: Conduct yearly background checks for all current Catholic school employees.
- Benefits and Leaves: Work closely with the Benefits office and Director of Human Resources in the management of all Medical, Personal, and Military leaves, ensuring complete compliance with various leave tracking policies across all schools.
- Accommodations and Compliance: Assist the Director of HR on all ADA requests for accommodation and work with school management to ensure compliance with findings.
- Record Keeping: Maintain FMLA files, including all supporting documentation and final leave tracking calendars for all schools.
- Professional Development: Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited American college or university or equivalent in a foreign country.
- Experience: Six (6) years of full-time, wage-earning, related work experience.
- Language: English (proficient in conversing, reading, and writing).
- Catholic Requirement: Must be a practicing Roman Catholic in good standing.
- Licenses/Certifications: Valid Texas driver's license.
