As a Senior Financial Strategist, you will deliver pivotal financial guidance and serve as the primary finance partner to our HR teams.

Amazon's HR division encompasses a diverse array of functional expertise, including HR Business Partners, software development engineers, and data scientists dedicated to providing innovative and exceptional benefits to Amazon employees globally.

This position offers flexibility in location.


The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills to engage with senior leadership, demonstrate robust analytical capabilities, and excel in a dynamic, global, results-driven environment.


Success in this role entails:
acting as a trusted advisor to HR Business Partners, enhancing financial outcomes through insightful and actionable analysis.

Delivering financial leadership and analytical support throughout the strategic and financial planning processes.

Collaborating with HR to evaluate new benefit investment proposals and their return on investment.

Ensuring financial oversight by leading monthly assessments of key financial performance metrics.

Serving as a thought leader to streamline processes and analytics, while promoting global standardization.

Key Responsibilities


Providing finance partnership support to the leaders of Amazon's global Benefits organization concerning headcount and operational expense reporting, global Benefit expenditures, planning, productivity metrics, and ad hoc reporting.

Diving deep into financial data to become a subject matter expert and offer additional insights.


Collaborating directly with the Finance Organization, internal business units, and central FP&A teams to align on metrics, objectives, and business reviews.

Building and nurturing effective relationships and networks within the Benefits organization.

Identifying and understanding business challenges while proposing and implementing impactful solutions.

Basic Qualifications

5+ years of experience in tax, finance, or a related analytical field

5+ years of experience across multiple finance and accounting roles

6+ years of experience applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses

6+ years of experience building financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision-making

6+ years of experience creating process improvements through automation and analysis

6+ years of experience participating in continuous improvement projects to enhance controllership with measurable outcomes

Bachelor's degree in engineering, statistics, business, or a quantitative role (engineering, process re-engineering, quality assurance) with 5+ years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications

6+ years of experience solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analyses, and recommendations with proven impact on business outcomes (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits)

6+ years of experience identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, determining root causes, and developing/implementing escalation plans

Experience with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (e.g., SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)

MBA or CPA

Knowledge of Python Pandas and time-series forecasting packages

Experience in delivering forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, and data interpretation of results

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across various US geographic markets.

The base pay for this position ranges from $85,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,500/year in our highest geographic market.

Pay is determined by multiple factors including market location and may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
