Overview:
The AWS GDSP Senior Financial Strategist will play a pivotal role in supporting the expanding AWS division by delivering financial guidance and analytical insights into the complexities of bespoke pricing arrangements and operational performance indicators.

This position is highly visible and will serve as a strategic ally to the organization, aiding in planning, forecasting, and enhancing compliance and approval processes.

The individual will also assist the Senior Finance Manager by providing mentorship and reviewing the contributions of other team members.

We seek an entrepreneurial Finance Strategist with a strong analytical mindset and a passion for reporting, analytics, and automation.

The successful candidate will develop and refine financial models, tools, and mechanisms that yield valuable insights for business decisions while managing multiple work streams effectively.

This role entails leading cross-functional initiatives, collaborating with various finance and operations teams within the organization.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with exceptional business modeling capabilities, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment. They should be adept at engaging with all levels of the organization, including delving into the foundational elements of the AWS Sales and Finance structure, and possess a proven track record of serving as a trusted advisor to the business.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong analytical and communication skills, capable of articulating financial outcomes and analytical insights to executive-level business and finance leaders.

Essential Duties:

  • Comprehend the various AWS Services, their financial implications, and their effects on account profitability.
  • Provide our sales team with financial insights and acumen to positively influence bespoke pricing arrangements.
  • Ensure financial oversight of bespoke pricing arrangements in accordance with Amazon's Spending & Transaction Policy.
  • Lead initiatives aimed at process improvement and automation of existing reporting mechanisms.
  • Effectively convey ideas to diverse audiences and influence decision-making processes.
  • Demonstrate the ability to operate with minimal supervision in a fast-paced and ever-evolving environment.

Basic Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in tax, finance, or a related analytical field.
Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical discipline (e.g., engineering, mathematics, computer science), or a Bachelor's degree combined with 5+ years of experience in a quantitative role (engineering, process re-engineering, quality assurance).

Preferred Qualifications:
6+ years of experience in identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, determining root causes, and developing/implementing escalation plans.
6+ years of experience in addressing complex business challenges through the delivery of accurate and timely financial models, analyses, and recommendations that yield significant business impacts (e.g., financial savings, operational enhancements, or customer benefits).
MBA or CPA preferred.
Experience with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (e.g., SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards).
Experience in delivering forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, and data interpretation of results.
Knowledge of SQL/ETL.
6+ years of experience applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses.
6+ years of experience in constructing financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision-making.
6+ years of experience in implementing process improvements through automation and analysis.
6+ years of experience participating in continuous improvement projects to enhance controllership with measurable outcomes.

Amazon offers a comprehensive compensation package that reflects the cost of labor across various US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $85,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is determined by several factors, including market location, and may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Amazon is a total compensation company. Depending on the position offered, equity, sign-on bonuses, and other forms of compensation may be included as part of a total compensation package, alongside a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits.
