Facility: 50-bed Behavioral Health Hospital Unit

The RN Psychiatric Clinical Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily clinical operations of the unit and ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care. This role involves managing the integrated care plan to provide comprehensive medical, spiritual, and emotional support, while maintaining the principles of quality, dignity, compassion, and confidentiality for each patient.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership:

  1. Serve as a role model for staff by fostering professional practice through effective team dynamics, communication, and advocacy.
  2. Identify and present opportunities for operational enhancements in patient care planning and delivery to the Director of Acute and Psychiatric Services, utilizing evidence-based literature to support recommendations.
  3. Exhibit and encourage critical thinking and sound nursing judgment in patient interactions, modeling these behaviors for the team.
  4. Oversee daily assignment processes, ensuring appropriate delegation based on patient acuity, staff capability, and medical schedules.
  5. Act as a liaison among interdisciplinary team members to ensure that behavioral care plans are developed and updated according to patient needs.
  6. Participate in team meetings as the clinical representative, facilitating the development of behavioral interventions and communicating plans to clinical staff.
  7. Engage in shift report processes to ensure all staff members receive comprehensive updates on patient care.
  8. Conduct daily rounds with unit staff to monitor patient flow, address changes in acuity, and resolve any issues that arise.
  9. Lead incident reporting processes, ensuring all documentation and notifications are completed accurately.
  10. Update care plans and patient profiles in response to changes in patient conditions.
  11. Ensure completion of inter-shift environmental rounds and report any immediate concerns to the Director.
  12. Manage staffing requirements to guarantee adequate coverage for each shift.
  13. Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to address urgent needs related to patient care and staffing.
Qualifications:

Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN required or in progress.

Experience: Minimum of two years in acute care clinical settings, with knowledge of financial, regulatory, and legal aspects of healthcare preferred.

Licensure: Current RN licensure in the state of Connecticut is required.
