50-bed Behavioral Health Hospital Unit
Role Overview:
The RN Psychiatric Clinical Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily clinical operations of the unit and ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care. This role involves coordinating integrated care plans that address the holistic needs of patients, including medical, spiritual, and emotional support, while maintaining standards of quality, dignity, compassion, and confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership:
- Serve as a role model for nursing staff by fostering professional practice through effective communication and team collaboration.
- Identify and advocate for workflow improvements in patient care planning and delivery, utilizing evidence-based literature to support recommendations.
- Demonstrate critical thinking and sound nursing judgment in patient interactions, while modeling these behaviors for the team.
- Manage daily staff assignments, ensuring appropriate delegation based on patient acuity and staff capabilities.
- Facilitate communication among interdisciplinary team members to ensure comprehensive behavioral care plans are developed and updated.
Clinical Duties:
- Participate in team meetings as the clinical representative, contributing to the development of patient behavioral interventions.
- Ensure timely and effective shift reports are conducted, with all staff receiving necessary updates.
- Conduct daily rounds with unit staff to monitor patient flow, acuity changes, and address any operational issues.
- Lead incident reporting processes, ensuring all documentation is completed accurately and promptly.
- Update care plans and patient profiles as needed based on changing patient conditions.
- Ensure environmental rounds are conducted between shifts and report any immediate concerns to management.
- Manage staffing needs to maintain adequate coverage for the unit.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN required or in progress.
Experience:
- Minimum of two years of acute care clinical experience, with a preference for knowledge in financial, regulatory, and legal aspects of healthcare.
- Current Connecticut State RN licensure is mandatory.
Note: This position requires participation in a rotating on-call schedule to address immediate patient care needs.
