Project Overview:

Bechtel is currently engaged in the construction of a semiconductor manufacturing facility in New Albany, Ohio. We are collaborating with the North America Building Trades Unions and suppliers to generate thousands of new employment opportunities while partnering with local educational institutions to develop training programs that will nurture the future workforce.

Role Summary:

As a Material Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in supporting material planning and coordination for a significant project site. Your responsibilities will include executing the Material Management Plan and acting as a liaison between Project and Field Procurement and Construction to ensure accurate material reporting. Your contributions will be vital in ensuring the timely delivery of materials necessary for work package installation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement the Material Management Plan and coordinate with Engineering and Construction to specify, identify, and quantify materials during the initial execution phases.
  • Adhere to established guidelines to enhance materials planning processes for key commodities.
  • Ensure a consistent methodology for material identification and clarify responsibilities among project functions to facilitate an efficient Purchase and Supply process.
  • Identify any special or lengthy approval processes that may affect the timely issuance of key engineering deliverables impacting the materials workflow.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to pinpoint critical design drawings and data from suppliers that may influence the timely delivery of other design outputs or are needed by Construction ahead of material arrival.
  • Assist Engineering in applying the project's component numbering systems as required by effective materials management practices.
  • Verify that material requisitions clearly specify required pay items and detail how materials will be shipped and stored prior to distribution for installation.
  • Monitor Engineering and Supply Chain deliverable schedules to ensure alignment with the construction timeline.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience, or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision while exercising sound judgment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills within defined guidelines.
  • Capability to mentor less-experienced team members.
