Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Compliance Specialist to join our team at the State of Washington. As an Environmental Compliance Specialist, you will be responsible for performing senior-level work for the Financial Assurance (FA) Program, providing technical consultation and assistance to underground storage tank (UST) owners and operators, and collecting information used by the FA Program in annual fee and deductible determination.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently completes specialized facility assessments, environmental investigation activities, feasibility studies, and reviews state regulations.
  • Reviews application materials for accuracy and completeness and corresponds with program applicants.
  • Reviews technically complex data and cleanup reports and conducts follow-up reviews to evaluate the success of remediation processes and their compliance with state regulations.
  • Drafts technical opinion letters for site owners that evaluate the completed or proposed cleanup against the substantive requirements of the Model Toxics Control Act (MTCA).

Requirements:

  • A valid driver's license free from serious traffic violations.
  • A Bachelor's degree involving major study in environmental, physical, or one of the natural sciences, environmental planning or other allied field.
  • Two years of professional-level experience in environmental analysis or control or environmental planning.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in serving, communicating, and interacting with diverse individuals and groups.
  • Experience working with UST systems and regulations.
