Job Overview

We are in search of a dedicated legal accounting specialist to support our expanding firm. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in accounting software, MS Excel, and will be proficient in managing accounts receivable and payable, as well as generating financial transaction reports.

Compensation:

$40,000 - $55,000 annually

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with year-end audits through financial reporting and analysis.
  • Collaborate with staff and clients to resolve inquiries regarding client charges on invoices.
  • Manage accounts receivable and payable, ensuring timely distribution of monthly client invoices.
  • Reconcile general ledgers and prepare financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and account reconciliations.
  • Process payroll for staff and attorneys, including preparation of annual W-2s and 1099s, along with tax filings.
  • Conduct Trust Account Reconciliation, adhering to all legal accounting requirements.
  • Oversee all financial transactions, including credit card and bank reconciliations, while managing the accounts payable and receivable processes.
Qualifications:
  • In-depth knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and accounting procedures.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, analytical capabilities, and strong communication skills, with the ability to perform accurately in a fast-paced environment.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required; some college education is preferred, with a bachelor's degree being advantageous.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting or bookkeeping experience, preferably within a law firm or accounting firm.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, data entry, and accounting software.
  • At least three years of experience in accounting or full-charge bookkeeping within the legal industry.
  • An Associate's degree in accounting, business, or a related field is preferred; a high school diploma is mandatory.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Excel, and accounting software, particularly QuickBooks, is required.
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online is essential.
