We are seeking a highly skilled Research Scientist to join our team at Stanford University's Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases and Geographic Medicine. The successful candidate will work in a dynamic research laboratory, conducting complex experiments and analyzing data to advance our understanding of infectious diseases.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct independent research projects, including designing experiments, collecting and analyzing data, and interpreting results.
- Collaborate with principal investigators and research teams to develop and implement research protocols.
- Develop and maintain laboratory records, including experiment protocols, data collection, and results.
- Assist with laboratory management, including ordering supplies, maintaining equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
- Present research findings at academic conferences and contribute to the preparation of papers for publication.
- Bachelor's degree in a related scientific field, such as biology, biochemistry, or microbiology.
- Experience with DNA extraction, PCR, and real-time PCR.
- Knowledge of Illumina and/or Nanopore sequencing is desired.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
The successful candidate will work in a laboratory environment, with potential exposure to blood-borne pathogens and hazardous materials. The position may require extended or unusual work hours based on research requirements and business needs.
