The salary range for this position is between $4,848.66 and $6,379.08 monthly.

New hires will typically start within the posted minimum and the average pay of similar roles unless otherwise justified by experience and qualifications.

Compensation will reflect the candidate's expertise and will take into account internal equity among staff performing similar functions.

The upper end of the salary range is generally reserved for candidates who significantly exceed the qualifications for the role.



Position Summary


The Cybersecurity Operations Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting CAPPS, Inc.'s mission to prepare every student for future success in various pathways. Recognizing that a high-performing workforce is essential to this mission, the Specialist collaborates closely with the Cybersecurity Operations Team Lead to implement a stakeholder-focused Information Security Program aimed at safeguarding sensitive information shared with the organization.

Key responsibilities include:


  • Collaborating with the Cybersecurity Operations Team Lead to enhance the organization's cybersecurity maturity in alignment with established frameworks.
  • Executing Incident Response protocols to ensure prompt and effective management of cyber incidents.
  • Implementing security measures to thwart malware threats and mitigate the impact of cyber incidents.
This position is situated within the Office of Information Technology.

The Office of IT partners with all divisions to deploy innovative technological solutions efficiently, supporting the overarching goals of CAPPS, Inc.

About the Office of IT


The Office of Information Technology collaborates with all divisions to deliver cost-effective technological solutions that align with the objectives of CAPPS, Inc.

IT provides efficient technology services and exceptional support to internal teams, educational service centers, and numerous public-school districts.


Services offered by IT include:

leadership on IT initiatives; guidance on security and policy matters; development and enhancement of applications; software procurement; technical support; assistance with technical documentation for purchasing processes; and oversight of data collection efforts that contribute to improving outcomes for students.



Key Responsibilities

Job duties extend beyond the essential functions listed below. Additional tasks may be assigned as necessary.

1.

Vulnerability Management:
assesses identified vulnerabilities and prioritizes remediation efforts based on organizational risk tolerances; collaborates with relevant stakeholders to address vulnerabilities; maintains documentation regarding remediation status and metrics related to these efforts.

2.

Cybersecurity Analysis:
conducts comprehensive cybersecurity analysis; under general supervision, may provide consultation for projects aligned with the Information Security Program; documents findings as necessary.

3.

Incident Response:
addresses security challenges in diverse environments; effectively communicates; detects, investigates, and resolves cybersecurity threats; reports findings to the Cybersecurity Operations Team Lead.

4.

Cybersecurity Advisory:
provides guidance to management and users regarding security policies and procedures.

5.

Security Operations:
assists in managing security operation platforms; helps define security configurations and operational standards for security systems.
Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications


Education:
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in a relevant field.



Experience:
A minimum of one [1] year of experience in analytical roles (not necessarily in cybersecurity or information security).


Substitutions:
Education and experience may be interchangeable on a year-for-year basis.

  • Basic understanding of IT infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and operating systems.

  • Highly organized, capable of managing multiple tasks while ensuring user satisfaction.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships across various levels and departments.
  • Ability to collaborate with external security organizations to maintain best practices.
  • Experience with vulnerability scanning tools is preferred.
  • A degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology Security, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred.
