POSITION TITLE: Evening Operations Supervisor

ORGANIZATION: Westhab Inc.

COMPENSATION: $24.00 per hour

POSITION SUMMARY: The Evening Operations Supervisor plays a crucial role within our organization, ensuring the safety and security of a men's homeless shelter through specialized responsibilities and protective measures. Reporting directly to the Security Manager, this position is essential for maintaining a secure atmosphere. Proof of COVID-19 vaccinations is required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Thoroughly train new security and residential aide personnel.
  • Oversee and delegate tasks to security staff, residential aides, drivers, and kitchen personnel during shifts.
  • Manage access control, including the operation of magnetometers and X-ray machines.
  • Quickly respond to incidents, employing crisis management techniques to protect staff and clients.
  • Conduct regular inspections both inside and outside the facility to identify and report hazardous conditions, unauthorized individuals, and illegal activities.
  • Provide immediate emergency response and assistance to staff and team members.
  • Prepare monthly security assessments and incident documentation as needed.
  • Record activities in CARES and adhere to Westhab protocols.
  • Collaborate with emergency medical services and law enforcement during their visits to the site.
  • Daily inspect security and fire safety systems.
  • Assume Client Care Monitor responsibilities in their absence.
  • Adjust staffing schedules in response to unexpected personnel shortages.
  • Ensure the safety of clients and staff, providing crisis intervention when necessary.
  • Assist in planning and executing fire drills.
  • Review log entries, incident reports, and administrative duties for accuracy.
  • Engage in meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Check equipment inventory daily, addressing any discrepancies.
  • Perform additional assigned responsibilities as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

A minimum of an Associate's Degree in social services, criminology, or a related discipline; or equivalent experience is required. A valid New York State Security Guard and Fire Guard License, along with certification in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (C.P.I.), are mandatory. Proficiency in security systems is essential. This position offers opportunities for personal and professional development, allowing for decision-making based on factual information. A solid understanding of video surveillance and fire detection/alarm systems is vital. Flexibility in availability is essential, as is familiarity with shelter protocols.
