Are you a current undergraduate student looking for a challenging summer opportunity? Savvas Learning Company is seeking students who want to join our Summer Product Development internship program in a hybrid work environment. Our internship program is eight weeks long and is a great opportunity for students to gain valuable experience in the K-12 education field.

During the program, participants will receive guidance from top teams, work on real-life business projects, attend weekly informational sessions to learn about other business areas, network with other students, attend off-site events, and finally, present a project to Savvas' senior leaders at the end of the summer to showcase the impact they've made on our business.

As an Editorial Intern, you will use your educational background and on-the-job training to assist in the development process for your assigned content area to create innovative instructional materials for use in K-12 schools. The Intern will have manageable assignments, support diverse programs, experience a variety of editorial tasks, and contribute meaningfully to the development of K-12 educational materials.

Our internship positions are full-time opportunities, 40 hours per week, requiring a hybrid work schedule, 2 days onsite, in our Northbrook, IL office. You'll typically be onsite on Wednesdays and another day as determined by you and your mentor during the first week of the program.

As an Editorial Intern for our Humanities content development team, you will use your educational background, in combination with on-the-job training, in the development process for innovative instructional materials for use in K-12 schools. The Intern will have manageable assignments on various Humanities programs to experience a variety of editorial tasks and contribute meaningfully to the development of K-12 educational materials.

Responsibilities:

  • Correlate instructional content to state standards
  • Review digital reading texts and develop metadata
  • Review manuscript from a vendor for quality, accuracy, and adherence to guidelines
  • Participate in the development of content and assembly documents for digital shared content objects (SCOs)
  • Review SCOs for quality and accuracy; follow Savvas Learning process for documenting defects
  • Participate in the development of pagination logs
  • Actively participate in meetings and informational presentations about the educational publishing process

What We Are Looking For:

  • You are a current student enrolled in an undergraduate program from an accredited college or university, graduating after August 2025, studying Education, History, or Publishing
  • You can commit to a full-time role (40 hours per week), for eight weeks out of the summer
  • You're enthusiastic about working in a hybrid environment, onsite a minimum of two days per week in our Northbrook, IL office
  • You're proficient in software used during the product development process, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat
  • You're organized and manage time well
  • You have an aptitude and desire to learn new software applications
  • You're a great communicator, verbally and in writing
  • You can multitask and set priorities, and you complete assigned tasks on schedule with the required level of quality
  • You're open to using constructive feedback to refine your skills and you're open to working collaboratively on a team
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S., our internship opportunities are not eligible for sponsorship

What's Next?

We will begin the screening process in December 2024, qualified candidates will be invited to the following steps:

  • Phone Screen - You'll have a prescreen via phone with someone from our Talent Acquisition Team. During this call, our goal is to learn more about your background and career interests and confirm information from your application. This is also a great time to ask any questions that you may have about the company or the internship program.
  • Formal Interview - During this stage, you will meet with a panel of interviewers, via video, including your potential intern mentor and other members of the intern leadership team. You'll have an opportunity to learn more about the internship and what you can expect to gain over the summer while sharing more about the skills and experience you can bring to the team.
  • Offer - If identified as the most qualified candidate, you can expect to receive an employment offer, outlining the internship details and compensation.
