Job Summary:

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a skilled Telemetry Technician to join our team. As a Telemetry Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accurate and timely monitoring of patients' cardiac rhythms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Properly prepare, place, and maintain telemetry monitoring on patients as ordered, including orienting patients to the telemetry system.
  • Identify and interpret cardiac rhythms, and obtain and mount arrhythmia strips and trends with label and interpretation.
  • Report cardiac rhythm changes to primary nurse and/or charge nurse, and review alarms with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Maintain accurate and current Admission/Discharge Sheet, Telemetry Report Sheet, and EKG Log.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and colleagues, and provide clear and concise reports to oncoming staff.
  • Precept and orient new Telemetry Technicians as needed, and maintain adequate stock and supplies.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of telemetry equipment, and report any malfunctions to the charge nurse/biomed.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
  • Successful completion of a cardiac rhythm course within 3 months of hire.
  • Documentation of successful training as a monitor technician or equivalent experience.
