Job Summary:
Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a skilled Telemetry Technician to join our team. As a Telemetry Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accurate and timely monitoring of patients' cardiac rhythms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Properly prepare, place, and maintain telemetry monitoring equipment on patients as ordered, including orienting patients to the telemetry system.
- Identify and interpret cardiac rhythms, and obtain and mount arrhythmia strips and trends with label and interpretation.
- Report cardiac rhythm changes to primary nurses and/or charge nurses, and review alarms with the interdisciplinary team.
- Maintain accurate and current Admission/Discharge Sheets, Telemetry Report Sheets, and EKG Logs.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and colleagues, and provide clear and concise reports to oncoming Telemetry Technicians.
- Precept and orient new Telemetry Technicians as needed, and maintain adequate stock and supplies.
- Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of telemetry equipment, including telemetry transmitters, and report any malfunctions to charge nurses or biomed.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Successful completion of a cardiac rhythm course within 3 months of hire.
- Documentation of successful training as a monitor technician or equivalent experience.
