Job Summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a skilled Monitor Technician to join our team. As a Monitor Technician, you will be responsible for providing continuous monitoring of adult and pediatric cardiac rhythms of patients with telemetry orders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Admit and discharge patients in a timely and efficient manner
  • Attend the central monitoring station on a constant basis, attaching and removing telemetry transmitters from patients as needed
  • Enter patient information into the central monitoring station and activate alarms
  • Label and record telemetry record forms, storing baseline rhythm strips and saving sample rhythms for each patient
  • Print sample rhythms on the laser printer at the beginning of each shift
  • Interpret and initial each patient's cardiac rhythm sample, recording interpretation on the telemetry record and filing the sample behind the record in the binder
  • Review alarm histories three times per shift, printing pertinent alarm samples and filing in record
  • Retain telemetry records in the binder for additional documentation and print remaining samples when telemetry is discontinued
  • Maintain communication with RNs of assigned units and remote nursing units, noting changes in patient rhythms and reporting them immediately to the primary nurse and recording these changes for review
  • Manage telemetry equipment and monitor supplies, ordering batteries, paper, and electrodes as needed
Requirements
  • American Heart Association CPR certification
  • Certification following satisfactory passing grade in the RWJUH Monitor Technician and EKG course
  • Previous telemetry experience preferred
