Job Overview

The Senior Automation Specialist plays a crucial role in the integration of advanced process equipment while ensuring the maintenance, troubleshooting, and enhancement of existing GMP and non-GMP control systems within a GMP Radioligand Therapies Production Facility.

At the AAA Carlsbad Site, systems encompass plant-wide SCADA, third-party skid and stand-alone control systems, as well as environmental control systems such as freezers, air handlers, chillers, and Building Management Systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Offering technical expertise in the design, configuration, installation, and upkeep of automation software and related hardware, collaborating with various teams as needed.
  • Overseeing or participating in all automation facets of upcoming projects, including the integration of third-party equipment into the plant DCS and BMS systems, data concentration, batch reporting, and data retention.
  • Providing support for 24/7 site-based operations post-startup.
  • Preparing scopes of work and leading automation contractors to ensure project timelines are met.
  • Developing project objectives aligned with user requirements and business strategies.
  • Determining specifications for equipment or systems and identifying the most cost-effective technologies for implementation.
  • Engaging in discussions with internal business partners regarding priorities and timelines, fostering transparent information sharing.
  • Creating equipment specifications in standard documentation formats such as User Requirements (URS), Functional Specification (FS), and Detail Design Specifications (DDS/HDS/SDS).
  • Participating in operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Resolving any technical issues that may impact production.
  • Updating and creating procedures to enhance operational efficiency and compliance.
  • Implementing and revising SOPs to align with established standards and policies.
Minimum Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Automation, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in Automation or IT within a GMP Pharma environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of automation systems and IT infrastructure.
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Preferred experience in aseptic environments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven track record in managing budgets and project pipelines.
  • Familiarity with GMP regulations and compliance standards.
  • The ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and key stakeholders.

Salary Range:
$112,000 - $169,200.00
