Overview:


Barnes & Noble Education, Inc. is in search of a resourceful, motivated, adaptable, and customer-oriented individual to fulfill the role of part-time Operations Supervisor, working varying or set schedules throughout the year.

The Supervisor will support the management team, oversee team members within a designated department, satellite location, or store in the absence of senior management, while ensuring exceptional customer service is provided to the academic and co-curricular community.


Responsibilities:


As a Supervisor, your primary focus will be on the sales floor, where you will coach and exemplify outstanding customer service.

You will assist in training and supervising the daily activities of team members across one or more departments or specific operational functions.

A thorough understanding of department and store operations is essential; you will provide excellent customer service to the academic and co-curricular community, enforce loss prevention protocols, and ensure that your area of responsibility is well-maintained, properly merchandised, and operationally efficient.


Expectations:
Spend the majority of your time on the sales floor delivering, coaching, and modeling exceptional customer service.


Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of all departments in the store to offer daily support, direction, and guidance to customers and team members.

Assist in resolving customer issues and complaints, escalating problems to the management team when necessary.


Collaborate with the management team in the daily operations of the store and act as the Manager-on-Duty in the absence of the manager or at offsite locations.


Assist in assigning tasks and providing focused direction to team members to manage and accomplish multiple projects, ensuring the effective execution of the workload.

Assist with processing sales transactions involving cash, credit, or financial aid payments as needed.

Part-time positions require availability to work on a weekly basis throughout the year. Schedules may be fixed or variable to accommodate the store's needs.

Physical Demands:
Frequent movement within the store to access various departments, areas, and/or products.

Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods.

Frequent lifting.

Occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders.

Pay Transparency Information:
Pay:
Part-time Operations Supervisor pay range $17.50- $18.00/hour.

Positions may require confirmation of vaccination in accordance with individual campus requirements. The use of face masks throughout the day and while on campus may also be expected or required.

Qualifications:
2+ years' experience in a retail environment preferred.

High school diploma/GED preferred.

Exceptional customer service skills to align customers with products that meet their needs.

Basic reading, writing, and accounting skills required.

Excellent customer service and communication skills are essential.

Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
