General Purpose:

The Assistant Supervisor of Facility Maintenance is responsible for maintaining the operational integrity of all facilities within our extensive healthcare network. This includes oversight of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety systems, waste management, and overall property cleanliness and repair.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support maintenance activities by assessing needs, forecasting resources, and supervising construction and improvement projects, as well as daily repair tasks.
  • Manage daily operations and assign tasks to a team of maintenance, groundskeeping, transportation, and housekeeping personnel to ensure effective business functions.
  • Handle staff scheduling, approve leave requests, and manage payroll functions in accordance with organizational policies.
  • Design and implement preventive maintenance strategies by analyzing maintenance reports and performing scheduled equipment maintenance to meet operational standards.
  • Ensure compliance with local zoning laws and regulations, scheduling necessary inspections as mandated by applicable ordinances and regulatory bodies.
  • Solicit competitive bids from contractors for facility projects and supervise service delivery within budget constraints.
  • Safeguard all properties and organizational assets, conducting regular audits of company property.
  • Demonstrate safe usage of tools and equipment, providing safety training and orientation to prevent misuse or injury.
  • Conduct regular safety drills, including fire, tornado, and workplace safety exercises, to ensure staff preparedness for emergencies.
  • Develop, implement, and update departmental policies and procedures in alignment with regulatory and accreditation standards related to building operations, safety, and infection control.
  • Oversee the upkeep and cleanliness of the fleet of company-owned vehicles.
  • Manage the maintenance and cleanliness of all building properties, including parking lots, walkways, and landscaping.
  • Ensure adherence to established purchasing processes for departmental expenditures, such as fuel, vehicle maintenance, and supplies, while keeping within approved budget limits.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with key community stakeholders, including vendors, contractors, and regulatory agencies.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience with electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems, including performing maintenance tasks and troubleshooting issues while adhering to safety protocols.
  • Strong project management capabilities, with the ability to establish work processes and prioritize project deliverables within budgetary constraints.
  • Experience conducting safety drills and documenting staff participation.
  • Ability to draft policies and procedures in compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards such as OSHA and The Joint Commission.
  • Capability to develop and conduct training for staff on workplace safety and infection control related to building operations.
  • Familiarity with interpreting blueprints and schematic diagrams.
  • Supervisory experience with a demonstrated ability to lead a team, delegate tasks, allocate resources, and manage performance outcomes.
  • Knowledge in budget development, implementation, and management, along with tracking expenditures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact at all organizational levels and with external stakeholders.

This is a full-time salaried position, Monday through Friday, with no weekend or holiday requirements.
