General Purpose:

The Assistant Supervisor of Facility Maintenance is responsible for ensuring the optimal functionality of all facilities within our extensive healthcare network. This includes overseeing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety systems, waste management, and overall cleanliness and repairs of the buildings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support maintenance operations by assessing needs, forecasting resources, and supervising construction and improvement projects, as well as daily repair activities.
  • Manage daily operations and assign tasks to a team comprising maintenance, groundskeeping, transportation, and housekeeping personnel to promote effective business functions.
  • Handle staff scheduling, approve leave requests, and complete payroll tasks in accordance with organizational policies.
  • Design and refine preventive maintenance programs by analyzing maintenance reports and conducting scheduled equipment and system maintenance to meet operational standards.
  • Ensure compliance with local zoning laws and regulations, and coordinate necessary inspections as mandated by city ordinances and regulatory bodies.
  • Solicit competitive bids from contractors for facility-related projects and supervise service delivery within budget constraints.
  • Safeguard all properties and company assets while performing regular audits of organizational property.
  • Demonstrate safe tool and equipment usage, conducting safety orientations and ongoing training to mitigate risks and prevent injuries.
  • Facilitate regular safety drills, including fire, tornado, and workplace safety, across all locations to ensure staff readiness for emergencies.
  • Develop, implement, and update departmental policies and procedures in line with regulatory and accreditation standards related to building operations, safety, and infection control.
  • Oversee the acquisition, maintenance, and cleanliness of the fleet of company-owned vehicles.
  • Manage the upkeep and cleanliness of all property, including parking lots, walkways, and landscaping.
  • Ensure adherence to established purchasing processes for departmental expenditures such as fuel, vehicle maintenance, and supplies, ensuring compliance with budgetary limits.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key community stakeholders, including vendors, contractors, and regulatory agencies.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience with electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems, including maintenance processes and troubleshooting, while strictly adhering to safety protocols.
  • Demonstrated project management capabilities, with the ability to develop workflows and prioritize project deliverables within budgetary constraints.
  • Experience conducting safety drills and documenting participation in fire, tornado, and workplace safety training.
  • Ability to draft policies and procedures in compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards such as OSHA and The Joint Commission.
  • Capability to design, organize, and deliver staff training focused on workplace safety and infection control in relation to building operations.
  • Familiarity with interpreting blueprints and schematic diagrams.
  • Supervisory experience with a proven ability to guide a team, delegate responsibilities, allocate resources, and manage performance outcomes.
  • Knowledgeable in budget development, implementation, and management, along with tracking expenditures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of effectively engaging with all organizational levels and external clients.

This is a full-time salaried position, with a standard workweek of Monday to Friday, excluding weekends and holidays.
