About this Role

We are seeking our inaugural VP of Strategy & Business Operations to address some of our most critical business challenges and operate at the nexus of strategy, finance, product, and operations. This individual will be tasked with constructing and overseeing financial projections, steering annual and quarterly planning, optimizing resource allocation, and collaborating across teams to lead strategic initiatives that advance the business. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills, robust business insight, and the ability to tackle complex issues while effectively collaborating to drive projects from inception to completion.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Develop and oversee a comprehensive business planning process across all departments, enhancing all aspects of financial forecasting, including annual budgeting and long-term planning. Serve as a key strategic partner to all business leaders, proactively identifying ways to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Lead select strategic initiatives aimed at refining processes and increasing efficiency within the organization, particularly in operations.
  • Establish and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for business operations, ensuring that systems and processes function seamlessly to deliver quality outcomes and consistency in performance.
  • Act as our controller, managing our relationship with our outsourced accounting firm. You will coordinate the delivery of all accounting and financial reports, review incoming invoices, and ensure compliance with specific company policies.
  • Collaborate with external legal counsel to oversee various compliance aspects, ensuring that we operate safely and responsibly in accordance with applicable state, federal, and international regulations.
  • Partner with leaders across functions (sales, marketing, product) to identify, promote, and support cross-company strategic programs that significantly enhance Kira's market position and operational effectiveness.

Experience & Skills

  • 12+ years of experience in strategy & operations, private equity investment banking, venture capital, or management consulting. Comfort in a fast-paced environment and adeptness at navigating ambiguity. Experience managing compliance aspects is a plus.
  • Ability to seamlessly transition from strategic thinking to practical execution.
  • Master problem solver with a proactive mindset, anticipating and addressing needs before they arise.
  • Exceptional organizational skills. You remain composed even amidst numerous priorities, tasks, and deadlines, demonstrating the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively based on business needs.
  • High integrity and trustworthiness, capable of managing sensitive and critical tasks with discretion.
  • Strong emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and professional maturity.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to influence thoughtfully and confidently across the organization, including with leadership.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; capable of communicating effectively and professionally with others, understanding the nuances of communication such as body language and vocal tone. Proficient in preparing and delivering clear and persuasive presentations.

  • A positive, solution-oriented attitude, able to navigate minor setbacks and swiftly overcome uncertainty.

  • Expert proficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
