Your Contribution to Our Team

We are seeking a forward-thinking professional who will utilize their industry expertise to introduce new capabilities within the distribution center, focusing on optimizing and enhancing the automation of product movement.

This position will actively support distribution center operations from a technological standpoint, concentrating on maximizing equipment reliability and operational efficiency for systems such as conveyors, messaging systems, conveyor controls, sortation technologies, scanners, cameras, print and apply systems, ASRS, and material handling robotics. This role will also involve collaboration as a functional member of the distribution center leadership team.

  • Proficient in Warehouse Control Systems (WCS) implementations and integration with Warehouse Management Systems, along with hands-on experience in conveyor and sortation technologies.
  • Ability to understand, maintain, and troubleshoot material handling control systems, including PLC/PC controllers, industrial networks, and electrical distribution systems.
  • A strong team player capable of working in project and support models with a diverse group of individuals across various departments and locations.
  • Demonstrated skills in problem identification, troubleshooting, and problem-solving.
  • Excellent documentation skills for project and production support lifecycle tasks.
  • Ability to collaborate with business and operations teams to identify and prioritize competing requests to deliver maximum value.
  • Capability to identify, document, and justify enhancements aimed at improving productivity and reducing labor costs.
  • Strong business acumen to quickly grasp new business processes and understand how IT can support business objectives related to revenue and profit.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, results-driven, and sometimes high-pressure environment.
  • Act as the first level of escalation support for maintenance teams to troubleshoot and repair all hardware or control software systems within the distribution center, both locally and remotely.
  • Facilitate failure analysis and incident review processes, implementing improvements or retraining to prevent future occurrences.
  • Utilize diagnostic software to monitor system performance; collect and analyze data to identify trends and recommend enhancements.
  • Apply subject matter expertise in material handling and electronic systems to maximize system utilization.
  • Experience with Fortna, Dematic, and HighJump platforms is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred.
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience with PLC/PC programming and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with industrial electrical systems and troubleshooting, including 480V 3-phase, 110 VAC, and 24 VDC systems.
  • Familiarity with control systems interfaces and programming.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills with PCs, servers, and industrial controls networking.
  • Effective communication skills to clearly convey technical issues to business leadership.
  • Ability to conceptualize, design, engineer, and execute industry-leading projects from inception to completion.
  • Collaborate with maintenance staff on repairs, system flow, design, and upgrades.
  • Develop comprehensive and clear system Description of Operation (DOO), test plans, and user guides.
  • Engage with industry-leading clients.
  • Define and procure electrical components, including sensors, VFDs, and PLC parts.
  • Design and engineer VFD and PLC control panels using CAD software.
  • Integrate advanced barcode reading technology for tracking and sorting containers.
  • Successfully implement material handling systems by creating and executing detailed commissioning plans.
  • Participate in all project-related turnover meetings, functional design reviews, and team discussions.
  • Fully understand project scope, budgets, and timelines.
  • Review initial project schedules and identify necessary adjustments.
  • Maintain and track issue lists, reporting to supervisors or managers as needed.
  • Conduct PLC code reviews.
  • Complete all in-house testing and emulation processes.
  • Provide daily site/field reports, including progress updates, issues encountered, and next steps as required.
