We are currently establishing a centralized supply chain division and are in search of a proficient and strategic Category Manager to lead the procurement and oversight of Electrical Components across various operating entities within our global manufacturing framework. The Category Manager will be tasked with formulating and executing category strategies that yield cost efficiencies, bolster supply chain effectiveness, and align with our overarching business goals. This position requires an in-depth knowledge of industrial components, electrical systems, and market dynamics, coupled with robust leadership and negotiation capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategy Formulation: Design and implement detailed category strategies for Electrical Components that resonate with organizational objectives and market insights. Propel initiatives aimed at refining the supply chain and enhancing procurement outcomes across all operational units.
  • Supplier Relations: Discover, assess, and collaborate with suppliers to forge solid partnerships. Conduct regular evaluations of supplier performance and manage relationships to uphold the highest standards of quality, delivery, and cost efficiency.
  • Contract Management: Spearhead negotiations for supplier contracts and agreements, emphasizing the acquisition of advantageous terms and conditions. Ensure adherence to company policies and legal standards.
  • Market Research: Execute comprehensive market research and analysis to remain abreast of industry trends, pricing structures, and supply chain dynamics. Leverage insights to inform decision-making and adjust strategies as necessary.
  • Cost Optimization: Develop and apply cost-reduction strategies and initiatives to meet budgetary goals. Monitor and analyze expenditure patterns, identifying avenues for cost savings and process enhancements.
  • Collaborative Engagement: Partner closely with engineering, production, and other internal teams to grasp their requirements and ensure that procurement strategies are aligned with their needs. Facilitate effective communication and coordination among different operating entities.
  • Risk Assessment: Recognize potential supply chain risks associated with machine components and metals. Formulate and implement risk mitigation strategies to ensure supply continuity and minimize disruptions.
  • Performance Tracking: Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) relevant to category management. Provide regular updates and insights to senior leadership regarding category performance, market conditions, and strategic initiatives.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Guarantee compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and best practices in procurement and supply chain management. Continuously seek opportunities to enhance processes and drive operational excellence.

Qualifications:

  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline. A Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., CPP, CPM) are advantageous.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5-7 years in category management or procurement within an industrial manufacturing context, with a specific focus on Electrical Components. Experience in a matrix organization is preferred.

  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Thorough understanding of industrial components, metals, and supply chain dynamics.
  • Capability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a dynamic environment.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and tools, along with Microsoft Office Suite.
